Submit Art for Exhibition

Exhibition Overview

Following the success of our first Japanese art exhibit at the Seattle Cherry Blossom & Japanese Cultural Festival, we are now inviting artists from across the Pacific Northwest to submit their work for our 2026 show. Submissions should reflect Japanese themes, subjects, techniques, or influence.

Submission Guidelines

  • Registration
There is a $10 registration fee per artist to submit up to 10 pieces for sale or display. Each item submitted by an artist will be considered separately. Artwork not selected may be put onto a waitlist with the possibility of being offered a space later in the process. We have limited display space, so not all artists and art may be selected.
  • Exhibit Goals
This exhibit seeks to present Japanese art from the Pacific Northwest that demonstrates Japanese themes, subjects, techniques or influence to support artists as well as inform the public.
  • Media
All media will be considered. Each piece must be photographed and titled in the application along with the dimensions and materials.
  • 2D Size Requirements
2D submissions must be no smaller than 6 inches in either dimension measured from the outside edges of the frame. Measurements must include the frame (if framed). Please double-check your measurement of height versus width. Pieces wider than 5 feet are unlikely to be accepted.
  • 3D Size Requirements
3D artwork must be 21 inches or less on its longest side to fit within our display cases.
  • Condition
All artwork must be properly finished and wired for hanging. Saw tooth hangers, brackets, or exposed glass edges will not be accepted. Unframed gallery-wrapped canvas must have the sides finished. No wet artworks will be accepted. The viewing surfaces and the frame must be clean and unmarred. If special equipment is required to showcase the art, it must be provided by the artist.
  • Origin and Subject
Only original works will be accepted. Entries must not be copies, derivatives or based on the copyrighted work of another artist. The Festival reserves the right to refuse any entry that does not meet the rules of entry or that may be offensive to patrons of the venue as determined by the Festival.
